Jim described the hmoving scene in his autobiography, Mercury And Me.
He wrote: “That summer time Freddie posed for a digital camera for the final time – mine.
“It occurred like this. I used to be out within the backyard photographing a few of the flowers in full bloom and Freddie walked in the direction of me.
“I trained the lens on – he wanted to move back a bit so it wasn’t a close-up.”
It is moderately heartbreaking when Jim explains why his his beloved Freddie, as soon as the best showman and a spotlight seeker, didn’t need to get too shut.
