Meanwhile, different rock stars who have been influenced by Little Richard have been sharing their appreciation for the fifties legend.

Queen guitarist Brian May wrote: “RIP Little Richard – so sad to hear of the passing of this wonderful wonderful innovator – who cried and screamed through his music and the whole world began to rock. Immeasurable loss to the world.”

While Queen drummer Roger Taylor stated: “The authentic king of actual rock ‘n’ roll has left us. RIP Little Richard.

“None of us could be right here with out you. You invented and embodied the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll.”

Sir Elton John posted: “Without a doubt – musically, vocally and visually – he was my largest affect.

“Seeing him reside in my teenagers was probably the most thrilling occasion in my life at that time.
